About Us
Liz and Dick have farmed at Penare for over 20 years and have always kept animals on the rugged coastal land. We got our first Dexters in 2003 and have increasingly realised their value in producing the most delicious beef we, (and many of our customers), have tasted.
Conservation is very high on our agenda and we also grow a small area of Spring Barley with the aim of providing winter feed and habitat for the Cirl Bunting. Since we signed a Countryside Stewardship Agreement in 1993, we have seen a marked increase in bird numbers on the farm but are still waiting for an official Cirl Bunting sighting.
We have been granted "Freedom Food" status for the beef enterprise. This means that after inspection we reached the animal welfare standards set by the RSPCA.
As well as beef we also sell pedigree Dexter cattle to new or growing herds for breeding or fattening.
